Berg Klösterle
Holidays in the Country
The village of Zedlitzdorf is situated in the upper Gurk valley at an altitude of 1100 metres (3660 ft.) on the sunny, southerly side of the mountain. It is a picturesque village with old farmhouses surrounded by fields and where hill farming is still carried on. The beautifully cared for vegetable gardens are fenced in to protect them from deer and other wild animals.
A little supermarket provides essentials, while two restaurants and a tavern provide good home cooking. In the late summer you will find mushrooms and blueberries in the nearby woods.
The local voluntary fire brigade is the pride of the village. It organizes festivals and the music band plays at village weddings and celebrations.
A huge Easter fire is organized by the local young farmers' club and can be seen over the whole valley.
In the early summer the mountains are full colourful heath. You will notice that people take great pride in their window boxes.
